What Do Chevrolet Trim Levels Mean?

The Chevrolet brand has mastered the art of providing its customers with enough options to customize their vehicles to their heart’s content. After you’ve selected the model you want to take home, the next step is choosing a trim level. The features and specs for each trim will vary based on the vehicle, but you can get a good idea of what to expect just by looking at the name. Chevy currently has 10 common trim levels, and each one is defined below.

1. LS: Originally stood for “Luxury Sport,” but in modern trim lineups, it is usually the base trim level, which offers essential features and is the most affordable option.
2. WT: The “Work Truck” trim speaks for itself. This trim is commonly the base model of the Chevy truck lineup and, like the LS trim, offers the no-frills basics you need to get the job done.
3. LT: Stands for “Luxury Touring.” This trim is generally the next level up in the trim lineup and will likely include additional infotainment, safety, and performance features. There are sometimes additional LT delineations, such as the 2LT and the LTZ, which elevate the model further.
4. Custom: The Custom trim is another truck-specific trim and builds on the base WT models. It adds interior comfort amenities such as heated front seats as well as exterior features that enhance its appearance while maintaining the traditional look of the model.
5. RS: Stands for “Rally Sport” and gives the car a sportier appearance and tacks on performance-oriented features.
6. RST: “Rally Sport Truck” is the pickup truck version of the Rally Sport trim and adds features such as body-color bumpers, dual exhaust, and other performance and luxury features.
7. ZR2: If your next vehicle needs to be as comfortable getting mud between the tread as it is cruising through concrete jungles, the ZR2 trim is the best option for you. ZR2 is Chevrolet’s off-road-oriented trim level, which features rugged exterior elements.
8. Trail Boss: This trim is another off-road-focused trim, but it is exclusive to the Chevrolet truck lineup. For the 2024 and 2025 model year, you can find it on the Chevrolet Colorado, Silverado 1500, and Silverado HD models. It includes features like an upgraded suspension, all-terrain tires, and off-road driving modes.
9. Premier:For most Chevrolet models, the premier trim is the top tier and includes a wealth of technology and comfort amenities, high-end materials such as leather upholstery, and distinct exterior elements that enhance its appearance.
10. High Country: The High Country trim is primarily available on Chevrolet trucks. This top-tier luxury trim can be found on models like the Silverado 1500 and Silverado HD, offering premium features such as advanced safety systems, high-end interior materials, and powerful engine options.
